Illinois State Rep. Jerry Costello (D), is partnering with Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff and Chester Police Chief Ryan Coffey to host a car seat safety check in Chester.  The event will take place Saturday, September 26 and will be first of several "Car Seat Safety Days" the Sheriff's Office will hold in Randolph County.  "According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, car crashes are a leading cause of death among children, but proper use of car seats, boosters and seat belts can help prevent these tragedies," Costello said.  Deputy Shane Rinehart, a certified  Child Seat Technician, will be at the First Baptist Church, 719 Sate Street in Chester from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to educate caregivers on the correct selection, installation and use of safety seats.  While parents are having the safety seats installed and inspected, children can participate in family fun including bouncy houses and face painting.  There will also be a barbecue.
