Headed to a football game tonight? Dress lightly, and bring water as heat continues

It is Friday, Sept. 4, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

Don't expect a break from the high temperatures for a while. Brian says the First Alert Forecast shows the late-season heat wave pattern will continue into the weekend. When you walk out the door, you'll notice a very muggy and foggy morning. If you're headed out to a football game this evening, prepare for a hot one. Don't forget to pack some extra water.

Making Headlines:

To tie the knot: The Rowan County Clerk will not be there to stop same-sex couples from tying the knot. Instead, she will be sitting in jail, ordered there by a federal judge who found her in contempt for refusing to follow his order that she issue marriage licenses.

Under Investigation: Benton Consolidated High School will not hold classes on Friday, Sept. 4 because of a building safety concern. The school reports it has been working with the Benton Police Department and are investigating the matter further.

Overnight fire: Several fire crews worked to put out a building fire in Parma overnight. According to the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department, multiple unoccupied buildings caught fire late Thursday night.

Smelly highway: All lanes of U.S. 68 Bypass/Eagle Way at the KY 272 intersection are open after a truck spilled its load of "chicken guts." The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports drivers be aware of the pungent odor that may linger for several days.
