On Thursday, Sept. 3 at about 2:45 p.m., deputies say they saw two men engaged in what they believed to be illegal drug activity on the parking lot of a gas station at the intersection of Benton Road and Silk Tree Boulevard in McCracken County.

They say the two men tried to leave the area when they saw the detectives; one on foot and the other in a vehicle.

A deputy found the other man, Dewayne "Jeezy" Johnson, nearby on Louisiana Street.

Johnson was searched and deputies say they found $1,441 and eight bags of cocaine on him.

Deputies they got a search warrant for Johnson's apartment on Bullard Street.

They say two other people were found there, identified as Tabatha Ward and Steven Jones.

According to deputies, Jones tried to hide in the bathroom and conceal a baggy of crystal meth, a syringe and marijuana.

Detectives say they seized $1,159 of suspected drug money from Jones.

During a search of the apartment, detectives say they also found meth, cocaine, marijuana, prescription medication, digital scales and other assorted drug paraphernalia.

They say they also found and seized a 42" flat screen TV that had the serial number removed and is suspected to be stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
