MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to a motorcycle crash on Sept. 3 at about 5:24 p.m. in the area of Clarks River Road and Reidland Road.

According to deputies, Erik Nemchik, 28, of Benton, Ky., was going eastbound on his 2009 Honda motorcycle, in the left-hand lane.

They say an unknown vehicle was driving beside Nemchik and began to merge into his lane.

Nemchik, to try to avoid colliding with the vehicle, swerved left and exited the road.

Deputies say the motorcycle traveled a short distance off the road and hit a street sign post, throwing Nemchik off.

According to deputies, Nemchik was wearing his helmet at the time, but still had some non-life threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
