U.S. 68 Bypass/Eagle Way EB lanes open after spilled 'chicken guts'

All lanes of U.S. 68 Bypass/Eagle Way at the KY 272 intersection are open after a truck spilled its load of "chicken guts."

According to Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the accident happened in Hopkinsville, Ky. He said chicken offal (chicken guts) spilled across the eastbound lanes causing a lane restriction for about 6 hours.

Todd reports Christian County Emergency Management handled the initial foul-smelling, sticky, messy clean-up effort.

Afterward, KYTC crews placed salt on the roadway to absorb and loosen any remaining material.

Motorists are still encouraged to use caution in the area and be aware of the pungent odor that may linger for several days.
