Dexter airport accepts bid for new hangar

DEXTER, MO (KFVS) -

Improvements are coming to the Dexter airport and is coming at a good price.

Aldermen expected to pay close to $600,000 for the hangars, but accepted a bid for $488,800, city administrator Mark Stidham said.

Dexter airports plan to build another hangar with six additional stations, just in front of their older hangar.

The board plans to pay 10 percent of the cost, while MoDOT Aviation will pay for the rest of the bill.

Stidham said saving money in this deal will make for even more improvements to the airport.

“Truthfully when we get through with this project, we’ll probably turn around and start doing some pavement rehab," Stidham said.

To rent a hanger, it’ll cost you about $85 to $125 for one currently, but the prices for the new ones hasn’t been determined yet.

The board is plans to break ground soon and finish construction by next year.
