Scott Co. school receives grant for new computers

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Scott County Central school district computers will be getting computer upgraded, thanks to a grant from USDA.

The state development committee awarded the district a grant for $3,500.

The school district has been using computers with operating systems as old as 2001.

School officials said in the past they’ve had to delay high school computer classes for the elementary students to take state testing.

Technology Director Buddy Alberson said the new computers will have a huge impact on students.

“This will allow newer computers to be in the classroom for the students to access information from the World Wide Web or any kind of learning programs, Alberson said. "The newer the technology is the easy it is for students to get the information they need to successful in today’s society.”

With this grant the district plans to purchase anywhere from 12-24 computers.

The school plans to purchase the computers and have them ready for students within the next month.
