No break from the heat yet - plan for high temperatures and humidity today

First Alert Weather Outlook:

You'll be able to keep those fall clothes in the back of the closet a little while longer. Brian says our moderate late-season heat wave pattern is set to continue. On your morning commute, expect to see fog. By the afternoon, temperatures will be a degree or two higher than yesterday. With the humidity and the higher temperatures, the heat index could reach the high 90s.

Making Headlines:

Towboat collision: The Coast Guard is investigating a towboat collision on the Mississippi River near Columbus, Ky. The crash is causing one of the barges to leak oil into the river.

Hunt goes on: Authorities have broadened the hunt for three suspects wanted in the fatal shooting of a popular northern Illinois police officer. The problem right now: there's little information to go on.

A verdict: U.S. District Judge David Bunning will decide the fate of the Rowan County clerk who has refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. On Thursday, Bunning will determine whether to fine her or throw her in jail for refusing to obey his order.

61 miles of dealsThe Highway 61 yard sale kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 3, ahead of the Labor Day holiday. The 10th annual event means those looking for a good deal can travel from Jackson to Bloomsdale, Mo where sellers will have tons of goods out to buy.
