1 injured in semi vs. car crash in Trigg Co.

TRIGG COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at about 6:31 a.m. on U.S. 68-80.

Police say it was at the intersection of Interstate 24 north of Cadiz, Ky.

According to police, Delroy Gouldbourne, 58, of Rock Hill, S.C., was driving a 2004 Freightliner semi truck and pulling a loaded box trailer.

They say he exited I-24 at the 65 mile marker and was attempting to cross U.S. 68-80, and re-enter I-24.

The preliminary investigation showed the Gouldbourne failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and continued going straight across U.S. 68-80.

Police say Amber N. Ryan, 20, of Cadiz, Ky., was going east on U.S. 68-80 in a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. They say she was not able to stop in time after Gouldbourne pulled out in front of her and she hit the front of the semi trailer.

Ryan was airlifted to a Nashville, Tenn. hospital and police say she remains in stable condition. According to police, she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Gouldbourne and his passenger, 61-year-old Roberta W. Gouldbourne, of Charlotte, N.C., were not injured in the crash.

He was cited for hours of service for drivers, and parts needed for safe operation because police say he had a flat inner tire. He was taken out of service for 10 hours due to being over his driving hour limit.
