CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Police have arrested a suspect in connection to an alleged bank robbery on Wednesday in Cape Girardeau.

Jeron S. Mister, 35, of Fairview Heights, Ill., is charged with second degree robbery. His bond was set at $150,000.

It happened at the Bank of Missouri on William Street Wednesday around 1 p.m..

A bank employee told police a man entered the bank and approached her teller area. She said he gave her a note that said, "give me money." Then, he told her to hurry up or he would kill her, according to the probable cause statement.

Police say he did not have a weapon, but had his hand in his pocket as if he did.

The teller gave him the money and he put it in his pockets and ran out of the bank, according to court documents.

He was caught about 15 minutes later near Doctor's Park on Mount Auburn Road. Witnesses say he ran down a ditch and across Interstate 55.

Cape Girardeau Police Chief Wes Blair offered some words of advice to the suspect on camera as the suspect was cuffed.

Don't you know we always catch bank robbers?" Chief Blair asked.

"I guess he's not from here," another officer answered.

Bank employees said the man had on a long-sleeved jacket, hat and sunglasses. He apparently ditched those items during his run from the bank to that parking lot.

After he was caught, the bank teller identified Mister as the suspect.

Mister later admitted to police that he robbed the bank and wrote on a deposit slip "give me the money."

Police say the money stolen from the bank was recovered.
