New Madrid hunting class held for kids, some adults

NEW MADRID, MO (KFVS) -

Kids as young as 8 got an opportunity to shoot clay pigeons on Monday afternoon, Aug. 31 in New Madrid, Mo.

The clinic is aimed at teaching kids, and some adults, proper gun handling and skeet shooting.

For 48 years, the Missouri Youth Sports Shooting Alliance has been traveling throughout the state and teaching participants about the sport.

Some of those kids even go on to compete in the World Shoot.

"We have a lot of girls that aren't cheerleaders that are not into sports, but this is something that everybody can do," said instructor Mary Keiser.

Those that hit the target went home with a pin.
