Faulty brakes cause crash, sends driver to hospital

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Faulty brakes caused a crash at the intersection of Krebs Station and Old Mayfield Road on Friday, Aug. 28.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to the scene at about 4:20 p.m.

They say Stephan Johnson, 30, of Calvert, Ky., was going westbound on Krebs Station in a 1994 Oldsmobile.

Johnson told the deputies that when he topped the hill on Krebs Station, he was unable to stop due to faulty brakes. He said he swerved into the ditch to avoid stopped traffic at the stop sign.

Deputies say when Johnson hit the ditch, his car flipped over.

Johnson was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
