Sikeston man arrested, facing drug and gun charges

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety has announced the arrest a Sikeston man following a search warrant. 

On Thursday around 1:20 p.m., Sikeston DPS served a search warrant at 608 Branum Street in Sikeston. 

Sikeston’s Criminal Investigative Unit had information that a person there had illegal weapons and controlled substance at the home.

The Special Operations Group served the warrant and saw a man run out of the back door of the home. 

The man threw something in the tree line and ran back inside when he saw officers approaching. 

The man was detained and the search warrant was served. 

Detectives searched the home and found illegal controlled substances and an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Police also located the items the man threw from the home, identified as a small caliber handgun, 34 grams of marijuana and three grams of methamphetamine. 

The man was identified as Tiron Sylvester Mitchell, 41, of Sikeston.

Mitchell was taken into custody for a Scott County criminal arrest warrant for non support.

Detectives will be seeking charges for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance – scheduled narcotic with intent to distribute, illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mitchell is currently being held on a $1,500 bond. 

Charges for the other alleged acts are expected to be filed Friday.
