U.S. Airman killed in Afghanistan from Kentucky

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) -

One of the Americans killed in Afghanistan August 26 is from Kentucky.

The Department of Defense announced that 27 year old Matthew Roland of Lexington died when the vehicle he was in was attacked near a base camp.

Captain Roland was assigned to the 23rd special tactics squadron based at Hurlburt Field, Florida.

The other airman killed has been identified as 31 year old Staff Sgt. Forrest Sibley of Pensacola, Florida.

Both men were supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
