MOUNDS, IL (KFVS) -

Mounds Police Chief Lloyd Bosecker has resigned following his alleged involvement in a bar fight on August 1 in Olmsted, Ill.

Mounds Police Sgt. Terry Riddle, a six year veteran of the department, has been sworn in as the new police chief of Mounds.

Riddle is also the police chief of Mounds City. He said he plans to resign his position once a new chief can be found.

Mounds Mayor Rita Flummer said Bosecker was at times difficult to work with and his alleged involvement in the August 1 incident was not the first time the city has had issues with the former chief.

Bosecker was on paid administrative leave following a fight at Club 37 in Olmsted on August 1.

He said he was breaking up a fight between two people at the bar.

The Mounds City Council spent more than an hour in closed session on Monday, Aug. 24 discussing "personnel matters" and failed to take any action regarding whether the city will bring Police Chief Lloyd Bosecker back to work.

Heartland News has requested information including video evidence from the Illinois State Police, but has been denied because the investigation is considered ongoing.
