4 injured in single-vehicle crash in Cadiz, KY

CADIZ, KY (KFVS) -

Four people were injured in a crash on Maple Grove Road in Cadiz, Kentucky on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

According to Kentucky State Police, Derrick T. Bacon, 22, of Cadiz, was driving a 2004 Kia Amanti southbound on Maple Grove Road at around 11:17 a.m.

Police say for unknown reasons, the vehicle entered a ditch and traveled more than 200 feet before re-entering and crossing the road, then hitting an embankment on the east side of the road.

According to police, the vehicle rolled multiple times, ejecting the driver, and came to a rest in a field.

They say three passengers, 23-year-old Earl Q. Byers, of Hopkinsville; 21-year-old James C. Bacon, Jr., of Cadiz; and 19-year-old Donald C. Bacon II, were able to get out of the vehicle on their own.

Derrick Bacon was air lifted to a Nashville, Tenn. hospital. The three passengers were taken by ambulance to a Trigg County hospital.

Police say only one occupant was wearing a seat belt.

The investigation is ongoing.

Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by the Cadiz Police Department, the Trigg County Rescue Squad, the Kentucky Department of Transportation, Trigg County EMS and Air Evac.
