Lace 'em up! Heart Walk in western KY on Sept. 12

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

More that 500 McCracken County residents are expected to lace up their sneakers in support of the American Heart Association's Heart Walk of western Kentucky on Saturday, September 12.

The annual event, which hopes to raise a record $75,000 to fight heart disease and stroke, begins at 9:30 a.m. at Noble Park in Paducah.

The non-competitive, one to three mile walk, includes teams of employees from local companies, along with friends, family members, and survivors of all ages.

Attendees will have the opportunity to honor survivors and remember loved ones lost to heart disease and stroke during a special moment in the program.

The event will also included a kid's zone, games, music, and heart-healthy snacks.

Nearly 70 percent of Americans don't engage in regular physical activity. This doubles the risk of heart disease, which is largely preventable through a healthy lifestyle.

Heart disease is America's number one killer, stroke is number four.
