1 arrested after shots fired in Energy

ENERGY, IL (KFVS) -

One person was arrested after shots were fired in Energy Monday morning.

Energy and Herrin officers responded to 201 West Ward Street in Energy around 7:23 a.m.

Residents of the home and Gage McNight, 19, of Hurst got into a verbal fight, according to Energy Police Chief Shawn M. Ladd.

McNight was in the road in a car and fired up to three shots toward the people and the building with a rifle, according to Ladd.

No one was hit by the shots.

Police say McNight left the scene, but Carterville officers arrested him a short time later near Grand and Division.

Carterville Unit #5 issued a safety alert until they could confirm the schools were not impacted but at no time was a threat made to or about any of the schools.

McNight was arrested on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm. Further charges are pending.
