MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah, Kentucky man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop.

Justin Ligon, 35, was charged with traffic offenses as well as criminal littering, possession of a controlled substance first degree, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to McCracken County sheriff's detectives, on Aug. 20 at about 3:50 p.m., a detective stopped Ligon after saying they saw Ligon and his passenger throw cigarette butts onto the road, and Ligon allegedly failed to stop completely at a red light.

A Paducah police officer and K-9 Fox arrived to assist with the traffic stop.

Detectives say K-9 Fox detected the odor of illegal drugs from the vehicle. They say during a search of the vehicle, a small package of marijuana was found, as well as multiple doses of Oxycodone.

According to detectives, Ligon did not have a prescription for the Oxycodone.

Due to some of the items found during the search, detectives say the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
