Dad's Fest Day 2015 declared in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Cape Girardeau City Council is declaring August 29, 2015, as Dad's Fest Day.

Pastor Adrian Taylor of Lighthouse Ministries was at Monday's city council meeting to received the proclamation from Mayor Harry Rediger.

In part, the proclamation reads:

"...whereas a Father's role in the family is one of protection, husbandry, role modeling, providing, giving guidance, teaching responsibility, and to be a leader in the family structure....whereas the role of the father within the family structure has been in decline in recent years and there is need of restoring the place of fathers in the family by edifying and honoring all fathers and rewarding exceptional men in our church and community, a gathering called Dad's Fest has been created..."

Dad's Fest will take place at Capaha Park on August 29.

There will be food, prizes, music, games, and awards given to outstanding fathers.
