Carbondale man sentenced to prison for theft

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A man from Carbondale was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to theft.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney announced Wednesday that Marcus Perisee, age 43, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections for theft on Tuesday.

On Monday, September 22, 2014, a local business owner in Carbondale returned to work after the weekend to find his business had been broken into, and property missing.

After checking with the local resale shops, he located some of his property at a resale shop in Murphysboro.

An investigation revealed that on Saturday, September 20, 2014, Marcus Perisee had sold the property to the resale shop.

Video surveillance captured from within the store showed Perisee selling the property.

On November 19, 2014, the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office charged the defendant with one count of theft as a class 3 felony and one count of theft as a class 4 felony.

The defendant pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count of theft and was sentenced to an extended term of imprisonment for six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a one year period of parole.
