Cape Girardeau school ordering tablets late causes classroom delays

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau Central Junior High School students will have to wait longer to receive their school tablets.

Assistant Principal Alan Bruns says the district had to order some tablets late while they waited for the school board to approve the funds to purchase the new devices.

School started at the Junior High on Aug. 13 and students are still waiting to receive them.

Students use the tablets to read chapters and complete their classroom work, quizzes and homework.

Bruns says parents should be seeing students come home with the tablets by the end of next week.

"This year they haven't been distributed yet, partially because we're getting a new device for the seventh graders," Bruns said. "A new Dell that's a little sturdier device for us. They're on site, here at the district, our technology guys are processing them and getting our software downloaded on them and getting them squared away that way."

Until students get them, Bruns says students are currently learning safety precautions and proper care for the tablets.

If your child does receive homework, Bruns says it would more than likely be on paper.
