Duquoin truck driver nearly electrocuted

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A truck driver was nearly electrocuted after the bed of his truck came in contact with a high voltage power line in Jackson County, Il. on Monday.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, the driver, Christopher Tidey, was at Shawnee Sand and Gravel in Gorham, Il. working to clean out the bed of his semi before loading it. 

At that time, the bed of his truck was raised.

The sheriff's department reports Tidey moved the truck forward before letting the bed down and came in contact with the power line.

Tidey tried to get out of the truck and in doing so he was shocked.

The trailer tires caught fire causing extensive damage to the trailer. Units from the Ava and Gorham Fire departments battled the fire.

When deputies arrived on scene, Tidey was alert and talking. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
