Harrisburg police investigating two weekend shootings

HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

Officers with the Harrisburg, Illinois police department are looking into two shootings that happened over the weekend of August 16.

Harrisburg Police Chief James Johnson said the first incident had to do with a person firing shots too close to the city limits.

Police are investigating also investigating an accidental self inflicted gunshot wound involving a minor. The parents could face charges of aggravated endangerment of a child and failure to secure a firearm.

No more details can be released on either incident because they are both under investigation, Johnson said.

Johnson said the results of those investigations will be referred to the state's attorney's office to determine whether charges will be filed.
