1 dead, 1 injured after Murphysboro, IL crash

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

A Murphysboro, Illinois woman died after a crash on Hwy. 127 and Ava Rd. on Friday afternoon, Aug. 17.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, at about 3:17 p.m., they received a report of a two-vehicle crash in Murphysboro.

They say the initial investigation revealed that a 2015 Ford passenger car driven by 42-year-old Rosalind Williams, of East St. Louis, Ill., and a 2007 Ford passenger car driven by 76-year-old Barbara Morber, of Murphysboro, Ill., crashed.

Morber was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County coroner due to injuries from the crash.

Williams was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and then air lifted to a St. Louis hospital.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is continuing the crash investigation.
