Officials in Kentucky announce the arrest of a Graves County man on fugitive, drug and firearm charges on Thursday.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said detectives with the Drug Division assisted officers from the Mayfield Police Department in arresting Austin Gray, 20, of Mayfield.

Officials with a Louisiana law enforcement agency contacted Mayfield PD asking for assistance in arresting Gray.

When officers arrived they noticed surveillance cameras attached to the outside of the home.

Movement was spotted through a bedroom window of the house.

Officers made entry in the house and located Gray hiding in the attic of the house.

The officers noticed where Gray had dropped his cell phone as he was climbing the attic access staircase.

Lying beside the cell phone was a sawed off shotgun inside a 5 gallon bucket.

A closer inspection of the shotgun revealed that the serial number had been illegally removed.

A search warrant was obtained and during the search of the house multiple bags of methamphetamine were located in the house, along with digital scales, cocaine and marijuana.

Detectives say this is the second sawed off shotgun that has been confiscated this month during an arrest.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has been contacted, and agents will be investigating the cases and possibly obtaining federal indictments.

Gray has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree greater than 2 grams of methamphetamine - firearm enhanced, fleeing and evading police 1st degree on foot, illegally defacing a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing.
