Suspect charged after Poplar Bluff armed robbery on Thursday

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Poplar Bluff police say a suspect is in custody after an armed robbery on Thursday, Aug. 13.

According to police, Ronald Lunsford, 55, was arrested in connection to the armed robbery that occurred at Hayden's BBQ in the 800 block of West Maud St. at around 3:10 p.m.

Police say the Lunsford used a large knife to threaten employees.

During an area search, several bystanders flagged police down and gave them the suspect’s direction of travel, which led them to the suspect’s front door. 

Lunsford was taken into custody without incident. 

The knife and bank deposit bags, which contained $752.31 in cash and checks, were recovered at Lunsford’s residence. 

Lunsford was booked in and lodged in the Butler County Jail on charges of robbery and armed criminal action.

Police say no one was injured in the incident.
