Carbondale, IL man sentenced to prison for heroin delivery

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A Carbondale, Illinois man has been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections on drug charges.

Samuel G. Scott, 48, was sentenced for the unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, heroin, after pleading guilty in a Jackson County Circuit Court on Aug. 6.

On April 29, Jackson County State's Attorney, Michael C. Carr, said Scott delivered less than 1 gram of a substance to a confidential source working under the direction of the Carbondale Drug Task Force. The substance tested positive for heroin.

Carr said the transaction was recorded.

Scott was sentenced to serve four years in the DOC, followed by two years of mandatory supervised release. He is eligible for placement in the Impact Incarceration Program.

The investigation was conducted by the Carbondale Police Department Drug Task Force. Assistant State's Attorney Mark Hamrock was responsible for prosecution of the case.
