Driver accused of leaving injured passenger behind after ATV accident

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A Farmington, Kentucky man is accused of wrecking his ATV, and leaving his injured passenger behind.

Graves County, Kentucky Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says the accident happened around 12:30 a.m. on KY 464 just  north of Calloway County line.

Investigators say Matthew Colley, 27, was driving an all-terrain vehicle, when he ran off the road and into a ditch. 

Cortney Shaeffer, 20 of Murray, Kentucky, was a passenger on the ATV with Colley, and told investigators the ATV rolled several times when it crashed.

Paramedics transported Shaeffer to the hospital, where she's being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Shaeffer and another a witness to the accident told police Colley had been intoxicated when he crashed the ATV.

Kentucky State Troopers found Colley at a home just inside Calloway County, and took him to a the hospital for minor injuries.

After a Graves County Deputy spoke with Mr Colley at the hospital and placed him under arrest on the preliminary charges of 2nd degree DUI & Leaving the Scene of an accident.

Once Colley treated and released by doctors he was transported to Graves County Jail.
