New Overnight: Tension turns peaceful in Ferguson as demonstrations continue

It is Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

Good news if you're headed to the bus stop, today and tomorrow are going to be great days to get outside. Brian’s First Alert Forecast shows it will be clear and pleasant. And the rest of the day will be warm, but not too humid. Clear skies even mean you should be able to see the Perseids Meteor Shower tonight.

Making Headlines:

Peaceful protests: Police outnumbered protesters along West Florissant Avenue in Ferguson, a sign the demonstrations around the anniversary of Michael Brown's death are starting to fade. The crowd of around 100 demonstrators was mostly calm and peaceful.

Missouri congresswoman emergency: Former Congresswoman for Southeast Missouri Jo Ann Emerson was hospitalized in Italy after suffering a brain hemorrhage. The Cape Girardeau native is in stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Shut down: Drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline shut down a plant Tuesday that produces inhaled medications after discovering the bacteria that causes Legionnaire's disease, a potentially fatal form of pneumonia.

1st time in MLB history: When the Seattle Mariners beat Baltimore 6-5 in 10 innings Tuesday night, it marked the first time in baseball history all 15 home teams won on the same day. The Cardinals got a win at home, too, beating the Pirates 4-3.

What's trending:

Party foul: This one you have to see to believe... A big rig carrying a load of beer wrecked Tuesday morning, spilling cans of Budweiser onto Interstate 75.
