IL man dies after apparent logging accident

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

An Illinois man has died from injuries that he apparently sustained in a logging accident in Jefferson County.

At approximately 8:02 a.m. on Tuesday, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received a 911 phone call transfer from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, reporting that a tree had fallen on a person in the northwestern part of Casner Township in rural Jefferson County.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies, Woodlawn Fire Protection District and Litton's Ambulance personnel initially responded with Ashley Fire Protection District and Air Evac for mutual aid.

Quentin Levi Douglas Campbell, 20, of Bridgeport, Ill., was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries apparently sustained in a logging incident.

Campbell was working locally with several other crew members for a logging firm from Lawrence County, Ill.

Foul play is not suspected at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
