Woman killed in 1-car crash in Graves Co.

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Officials in Graves County say a woman was killed in a single car crash, when her car caught fire after smashing into a utility pole.

Sheriff Dewayne Redmon reports that his office worked an accident at approximately 12:37 a.m. Sunday on Ky 94 East in the Cuba community.

The accident occurred when Rachel Graham, 22, of Twenty Nine Palms, California, was driving her 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier west on St Rt 94 just east of Cuba.

Graham left the roadway on the right side and traveled approximately 250 feet westbound before striking a utility pole.

The vehicle knocked the pole, which had a transformer on it, down.

It then came to rest approximately 50 feet on the other side of the pole.

Officials say that's when vehicle then caught fire and was fully engulfed when Deputies from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office arrived.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Mayfield/Graves County Ambulance Service, Cuba Fire Department and Graves County Coroner Phillip McClain.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
