KY State Police investigate stabbing in Bardwell

BARDWELL, KY (KFVS) -

Kentucky State Police officers have arrested a woman suspected of stabbing her husband in Bardwell, Ky.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. on August 6, Kentucky State Police received a call from the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office requesting KSP to investigate an alleged self-inflicted stabbing of a Bardwell man.

Investigators responded and discovered that Maurice Mayes, 30, had suffered a stab wound to his chest.

Mayes was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.

After additional investigation, investigators determined that Mayes had been stabbed by his wife, Cassandra J. Mayes.

On August 7, an arrest warrant was obtained for Cassandra Mayes.

She was arrested a short time later, without incident, and lodged in the Ballard County Detention Center.

Mayes was charged with one count of assault and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

The investigation continues by Detective Brett Miller and Trooper Adam Jones.
