Chaffee man arrested, faces domestic assault and weapons charges

CHAFFEE, MO (KFVS) -

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter says a Chaffee man has been arrested for domestic assault and a weapon violation. 

Brian K. Conklin, 48, of 652 County Highway 214, Chaffee, Mo. has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and domestic assault. 

Sheriff Walter says the Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic assault at 652 County Highway 214, outside of Chaffee on Thursday. 

Deputies spoke with the victim, who said she had been in an argument with her husband, Conklin.

Conklin allegedly slapped the victim in the head and began throwing items in the residence at the victim.

Deputies were also told that he had access to firearms in the residence.

Deputies spoke with Conklin, who admitted to arguing with the victim, and that he “smacked the brim of her hat". 

Deputies located a .22 long rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun in the bedroom. Both guns were loaded.

Conklin is a convicted felon, and cannot be in possession of any firearms. 

Conklin was placed under arrest and transported to the Scott County Jail.

Bond was set by the court at $15,000 cash or surety, and has no contact with the victim.
