MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department recently participated in a back-to-school fair hosted by the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation and Mississippi County Caring Communities at the East Prairie Church of God’s Family Life Center.

Sheriff Keith Moore said about 500 children were fingerprinted on identity kit cards and given safety tips essential to helping them avoid dangerous situations.

The identity cards serve as a keepsake for most parents, but in an emergency situation, the prints can be used to positively identify a missing or endangered child.

“Education and preparation make a huge difference,” said Sheriff Moore. “We enjoy meeting with the kids and helping parents complete their Child ID kits.”

Sheriff Moore thanked DAEOC and Caring Communities for inviting the sheriff’s department to participate in the event.
