It's Aug. 5, 2015.

Showers are moving in from the west, so expect a very wet day in the Heartland. Brian’s First Alert Forecast doesn't show any severe weather, but some areas could get enough rain to cause flash flooding.

Making Headlines:

Under investigations: Police are looking for answers after an alleged armed robbery at a gas station in Murphysboro, Il.

Noranda explosion cause: Preliminary investigations show 33 employees were injured after a molten metal explosion at Noranda Aluminum in New Madrid. According to OSHA, the preliminary cause of the explosion appears to be the result of molten aluminum contacting the water.

Headed to court: An ex-convict charged with fatally shooting a police officer who interrupted a drug deal on a Memphis street has a court appearance scheduled for today.

Deadly train derailment: Two passenger trains derailed minutes apart on flooded tracks on a bridge in central India, killing at least 24 people.

Recall alert: Nearly 300,000 Chargers from 2011 to 2014 are being recalled because side airbags may deploy due to the impact when doors are shut.

What's trending:

It's over: It appears love doesn't last forever in the Muppet world. Miss Piggy and Kermit are ending it. Apparently, they will be seeing other people, frogs and pigs.
