Heavy rain causes sewage overflow

(KFVS) -

A sewer main break in Florissant, Missouri sends roughly 200,000 gallons of sewage bubbling into Coldwater Creek.

The break was reported on Monday.

A news release from the Metropolitan Sewer District says the agency believes the cause of the break is the excessive rain the area has faced since June, which weakened the creek bank.

Officials are saying there is no immediate threat to public safety, but to steer clear of the creek.
