Brehm Preparatory School hosts seminar

CARTERVILLE, IL (KFVS) -

Brehm Preparatory School will host "An Intensive Training on Executive Function Skills" seminar on Monday, August 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at John A. Logan College.

Sarah Ward will be the presenter. Ward has more than 17 years experience in diagnostic evaluations, treatment, and case management of children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of brain based learning difficulties and behavioral problems.

Ward will teach special educators, teachers, speech language pathologists, psychologists, parents, and professionals, hands-on practical strategies to improve executive function skills.

Topics that will be covered include: defining executive skills, accelerating students' planning skills, task execution at home and in the classroom, time management, long term project management, developing executive function skills in the classroom, and practical strategies for completing homework.

Brehm is a fully accredited, not-for-profit coeducational boarding school for students, grades 6-12, with learning disabilities or differences.  

Dr. Brian Brown, Executive Director of Brehm, says the seminar in particular, "will benefit families of children with learning issues, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, executive functioning disorders, language disorders, and auditory processing disorders."
