12-year-old boy shot near eye in shooting in St. Francois Co.

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A 12-year-old boy was injured in an accidental shooting in St. Francois County Tuesday morning.

The boy was checking live-traps in the 6100 block of Glore Road. He tried to cross a fence when the weapon went off and hit him near the eye, according to the St. Francois County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's department was called around 7 a.m. and found EMS treating the boy for a superficial wound near the eye.

He was airlifted to Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
