KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

The Missouri State Fire Marshal, the Kennett Police Department and the Kennett Fire Department is investigating a suspicious fire at a hotel in Kennett.

According to Scott Tutor, fire crews were called to the Days Inn on Independence St. around 9:30 p.m.

The hotel was evacuated and no one was injured.

Crews were able to get the fire under control by 10:30 p.m. and they were on scene until 1:30 a.m.

After preliminary investigations, Tutor reports the fire was contained to a bathroom in a room.

The person renting that room was not at the hotel at the time of the fire.

Tutor reports smoke damaged four to six other units.
