Union County Courthouse security guard Todd Vincent retires

Union County staff, along with members of the public, recently said goodbye to a familiar face that most of the county as become so familiar with over the last ten years.

July 30, 2015 marked the final day as the security guard for the Union County Courthouse for Todd Vincent. A surprise celebration for Todd Vincent was arranged by Sheriff Scott Harvel.

"I just wanted to thank Todd for his dedicated service to Union County for the past thirteen years," Harvel said. "Todd was a very very reliable employee and performed his duties with the utmost professionalism. I want to congratulate Todd during his retirement years and wish him the best of luck."

Many coworkers of Vincent noted his professionalism that they saw on a daily basis.

"I like to get an early start so Todd was usually the first person I spoke to in the morning," Chief Information Officer Rollie Hawk said. "I was always impressed with his way with people coming in. People aren't always excited about coming to the courthouse when it's for court or to pay taxes but Todd always had a friendly attitude with the public."

Vincent's last day ended on a notable high note. July 30 was the due date for the first installment of property taxes as well as a busy court day, resulting in a new record in foot traffic.

"After closing on Thursday, I asked Todd how our numbers looked," Hawk added. "His count was 608 for the day, give or take a few. We got close to 600 earlier in the year but this was definitely a record."

The staff of Union County thank Todd Vincent for his years of service to the Courthouse and the citizens of Union County.
