A man who police say shot two people during a home invasion, assaulted a former relative, tied up a woman, and later escaped from jail was found guilty of 13 charges.

The Ripley County clerk confirms Rodney Joe Green was found guilty of three counts of first-degree robbery, four counts of armed criminal action, two counts of second-degree assault, first- degree burglary, attempted forcible rape, forcible sodomy, and resisting arrest for crimes committed in 2013.

According to the probable cause statement, Green parked his 1993 Chevy truck on County Road 569 about an eighth of a mile away from a home around 2:30 a.m. Feb. 1. He walked to the home and knocked on the door. A woman answered and Green told her his truck broke down, he had his children with him, and he needed to use a phone. When the woman opened the door enough to pass a phone through the door, she saw Green had a rifle. She tried to close the door as Green tried to push it open. That when her husband helped push the door closed.

Once the door was shut, Green fired three shots through the door hitting the man in the leg, the woman in the hand and third shot went through the floor and into the basement, according to the probable cause statement. Both had non-life threatening injuries.

Green demanded keys to their vehicle. The woman gave the keys to him.

Police say Green took their vehicle and drove to a different home in Fisk where he assaulted Tom Parson and stole another truck. Parson says Green showed up at his home saying he had car trouble .

Parson says Green tied him up and left in Parson's Gold F150.

Parson's truck was eventually found a few miles from the home of Green's alleged third victim.

That incident allegedly happened late Feb. 2, according to law enforcement. According to the sheriff's office, Green broke into the home of a woman on Route W. Authorities say Green told her he had a gun and tied her up. Apparently the object was actually a pipe. According to authorities, he left that home in the victim's red Neon. Authorities tell Heartland News the victim shot at Green several times as he drove away.

Eventually officers caught up with him late that night.

Green had a history of drug and theft arrests. He did not have a history of violent crimes before Feb. 2013.

Green is accused of escaping from the Butler County Jail with two other inmates in March 2013. Surveillance video caught the three suspects dropping from the ceiling and running out the main jail entrance.
