IL Representative to bring petition, invitation to Gov. Rauner's desk

ILLINOIS (KFVS) -

An Illinois representative will take his petition to keep the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta to the governor's desk.

Rep. Jerry Costello II gathered more than 10,000 signatures. He also plans to invite Gov. Rauner to attend the Grand American World Trapshooting Championships this August with him.

The Grand American is held annually at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex.

"The Grand American is the premiere event in the world held at the shooting complex, and I don't think anyone can understand how immense this event is without being there to see it with their own eyes," Costello said. "I would be honored to host the governor and show him firsthand the broad impact this event and others like it have on southern Illinois."

Costello said it brings an estimated $10 to $13 million to southern Illinois each year, and is a large part of the complex's $22 million annual impact.
