Cape Girardeau police say 'roll call' meetings working

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau police say attempts to connect with the community are working.

The "roll call" is part of an ongoing program to get the police into neighborhoods and discuss concerns with the people who live there.

Lieutenant Rodney Barker said he can tell that the relationship between police and the people they serve is getting stronger.

"I think it's opened people's eyes to the problems in their neighborhood that they may not have known about," Lt. Barker said. "To the number of officers that are actually working on the street in their neighborhoods."

Monday night's Community Roll Call took place near the intersection of Butler and Henderson Streets at 7 p.m.
