Woman's body found in flood waters identified, believed to be accidental drowning

PEMISCOT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was found in flood waters southeast of Caruthersville on Sunday evening.

According to Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, the victim was identified as Diane McDaniel, 59, of Caruthersville.

He said the cause of death was determined as accidental drowning.

The sheriff's office reports deputies received a call at 7 p.m. about a van stuck in a bean field and a body floating in the water near County Road 553.

When deputies and the Pemiscot Rescue got to the area, they found McDaniel's body in the water. She appeared to have been there for several days.

According to the Pemiscot County coroner, an autopsy was completed in Farmington on Monday afternoon.
