Monica Edmonds, from Bernie, Mo., has struggled with cancer for years now.

On Saturday, family, friends, and an organization called Dream Builders Foundation came together to give her something she has been dreaming of for a long time: a family trip to Disney World.

Edmonds was first diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in 2011 and again diagnosed in 2014.

This time, stage four.

For Edmonds, her dream is not one for herself, but for her family.

She chose Disney World because she has always wanted to take her children there.

For Edmonds, it's not about riding rides; it's about seeing her children's faces light up with joy and smile.

Smiling is something Edmonds tries to do everyday while struggling with her cancer lately.

But support from her family and friends have made the past few years a little easier.

That support was shown on Saturday at the Bernie School cafeteria along with the Dream Builders Foundation.

Dream Builders Foundation's goal is give to families, in which a parent is facing a terminal illness and has a child under 18 years old.

Edmonds is actually the first case for Dream Builders in giving a dream to a person or family.

Dream Builders raised over $5,000 to help give the gift of a dream trip for Edmonds, her husband, and her three children.

Edmonds says it's been hard these past few years but a bright side to this is knowing how much the community cares, and especially the support she gets from her loved ones.
