Friday was a special night for two little girls in the heartland who not only turned seven; but also celebrated having their wishes granted by the make-a-wish foundation.

“The doctors are still shocked.” explained father Ashley Noto, “They’re seven now, they’re still walking… keep hope and try to stay positive… it’s not over until it’s over.”

Noto says Havyn and Hadly are like many girls their age; one loves to swim and bake, and another describes herself as ‘the new Cinderella’

When the identical twins were 11 months old, their father noticed they both had difficulties holding their heads up, and they both were found to have a condition similar to muscular dystrophy which affects muscle development and will eventually lead to vital organs.

Noto says there isn’t a cure available.

Evangeline Venus with the Make-a Wish Foundation oversaw granting the girl’s wishes.

One was for a trip to Disneyworld, and another for a swimming pool which father Ashley Noto says isn’t just safe-haven on a hot day, but also an important source of therapy.

“it’s not hard on your joints and stuff, so we couldn’t have gotten anything better for therapy.” Noto  explained, “I think they’re getting at the age where they can understand what’s going on, but they stay positive more than me and their mother… a lot more.”

Noto says the wished granted has restored his hope not only in his daughters, but also in his community. “It’s a big deal, but you can work through it with the help of others.”

“The goal is really just to help remind them that it’s not about their condition,” Venus explained, “There’s so much more to their life, so it’s about making memories, enjoying quality time, and celebrating who they are as a child and not the condition that they have.”

Various donors made the wishes and Friday’s party possible, including local volunteer firefighters who helped build and fill the new pool.
