4 people accused in 2 Graves Co. burglaries

Four people were arrested in Graves County, Kentucky in connection with two burglaries.

Casey France was charged with two counts of first degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking under $10,000 and six counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon.

Amber France was charged with first degree complicity to burglary, six counts of receiving stolen firearm, receiving stolen property under $10,000, theft by unlawful taking under $10,000, third degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cary West was charged with first degree burglary and receiving stolen property under $10,000.

Shelby Gill was charged with first degree complicity to burglary and receiving stolen property under $10,000.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said two burglaries were reported on Tuesday. He said a homeowner with property in the south part of the county, near the state line, called and reported a burglary, including several guns and hunting equipment that was stolen from the property.

Within a few minutes of the report, Sheriff Redmon said they received a report of another burglary on Old Macedonia Road in the western part of the county. Again, the person reported numerous guns and other items stolen.

According to Sheriff Redmon, the burglary in the south end of the county happened sometime on Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

He said the burglary on Macedonia Church Road happened on Monday between noon and 1 p.m.

Detectives went to the home of Casey France, 32, on Carlisle Road, just east of Mayfield, around 3 p.m. on Wednesday to talk to him after a complaint call was answered there earlier that morning.

While talking to France, detectives say they determined his girlfriend was at work in Paducah.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office Detective Division was called and they were asked to talk to Amber France, 30.

While talking to her, detectives say a pair of boots, allegedly stolen during one of the burglaries, was found in her vehicle.

During the interview, detectives say they learned that the couple had been visiting the Walmart in Mayfield and had allegedly been shoplifting several hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. They say some of the items were recovered at the France home.

After more interviews and a search of the France home on Carlisle Road, Casey and Amber France were arrested.

Detectives say several of the guns were allegedly sold to someone in the Pryorsburg community.

They responded to the home and recovered several guns, compound bows and other pieces of expensive hunting equipment.

According to Sheriff Redmon, detectives also searched the home of 36-year-old Cary West and 22-year-old Shelby Gill on E. North Street in Mayfield. He said more stolen items were found inside the home.

West and Gill were arrested and taken to the Graves County Jail.

On Thursday, detectives continued interviewing people and learned of others possibly involved in the crimes. They say more charges were then placed on West and Gill.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives say more arrests are likely before the end of the week.

If you have bought items from any of these four people in the last two weeks, detectives ask that you call the Graves County Sheriff's Office at 270-247-4501. These items could include chainsaws, rifles, shotguns, pistols or other hunting equipment. Also, any items that are new and possibly stolen from Walmart.
