CAIRO, IL (KFVS) - Dozens of people in Cairo, Illinois had access to something many don't often see: Health care.
Those with the Community Health and Emergency Services Organization hosted a health fair on Wednesday, July 22.
Organizers say Cairo is a very under-served area and health services are badly needed.
"We're in the Cairo area serving Alexander County, which is one of the poorest counties in the state," Director of Nursing Chris Morgan said. "We try to make sure that immunizations are up to date, as well as do screenings for diabetes. We also do BMIs and wellness checks so that our kids will have the best chance they can."
The clinic is doing physicals and promoting dental care, as well as immunizations, distributing school supplies, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
Another health fair is set for Thursday, July 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
