Man accused of pulling out knife, cutting someone in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A man is accused of pulling out a knife and cutting someone in Carbondale, Illinois on Tuesday, July 21.

Dwayne E. Keith was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery in a public place, aggravated battery which caused bodily harm and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to Carbondale police, at about 9:50 p.m. they received a report of a man carrying a knife in the 500 block of East College Street.

During the investigation, officers learned the victim was inside of a parked vehicle in the alleyway, north of the 400 block of East College Street, when the suspect, Keith, approached the vehicle and confronted the victim.

During the altercation, police say Keith pulled out a knife and cut the victim.

They say the victim had two, non-life threatening cuts. The victim was treated and released at a Carbondale hospital.

Officers found Keith in the 400 block of East College Street and arrested him. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.

    According to Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Clark Parrott, Troop E officers were at the scene of a three-vehicle deadly crash in southern Cape Girardeau County.
